Our Chinese New Year celebration was filled with joy, tradition, and unity as we welcomed the new year with a vibrant lion dance performance and a delightful company dinner. It was an event hosted to appreciate our team’s dedication, embrace prosperity, and strengthen bonds for a successful year ahead.
Vibrant Lion Dance Performance
In Chinese culture, the lion symbolizes power, wisdom, and prosperity. As part of our Chap Goh Mei celebration (the fifteenth day of Chinese New Year), we welcomed a vibrant lion dance performance, a tradition believed to bring good luck and ward off negative energy.
The ceremony began outside the ITS office, where the lions were invited in, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of drums. They first blessed the offices of our Executive Director, Sales Director, and Managers before moving through the workspace to perform blessings at each worktable.
As part of the Chinese tradition, ITS employees would place two mandarin oranges and a red packet (Ang Pao) on their respective desks, inviting the lions to bestow blessings through their traditional dance.
The celebration concluded with the Cai Qing (“Plucking the Green”) ritual, in which the lion “consumes” auspicious items such as mandarin oranges, symbolizing the spreading of wealth and prosperity for the year ahead.
A Night of Togetherness and Celebration
The celebration continued with a Chinese New Year dinner at South Sea Seafood, where colleagues gathered to enjoy delicious food, a lucky draw session, and great company. It was a wonderful evening to strengthen bonds and look forward to a prosperous year ahead.
